Nepal - Kathmandu

Hello Travelers welcome to my blog! I am a self appointed traveler who I think has been gifted to be a connoisseur of travel experiences including food and culture of places around the globe. I don't really describe to you the tourist spots to visit because you may gather that information anywhere! But I guide you about the feel of a place - the experience that you can access to enjoy the excitement of being there - to the core! I experience things from an unbiased, unprofessional but a free spirit perspective. My idea behind writing this blog is to share the sheer pleasure of those experiences and nothing more, to keep it simple.

Today I share my experience of my stay in Kathmandu, Nepal. Apart from the fact that you have to plan your trip well to Nepal and also ensure that the Airport is not closed due to heavy rains or some aircraft accident or land slides or earth quake the rest of the experience is mind blowing!!! ;)

Nepal to me is mystique, a spiritual realm. It scores in glorifying ones need to witness the biochemical reaction of the occult and the meta physics with nature's magnificent beauty! Travelers generally call Himalayas the 'Nirvana Dham' but more simplified is divinity connecting to divinity with absolute ease i.e., we travelers, to the Himalayas! The first breath of air in Nepal gives you the sense of freedom and wholeness. This unique feel you cannot get anywhere in the world! I am not talking about freedom which is confusing (as to what do I do with my many choices) but its about freedom that is grounding with a deep sense of serenity and belonging. Close your eyes right now, and feel it...no try it really...wow!!! So in one word its 'wow'!

Nepal is more than site seeing, the beauty of nature, the Himalayas...its also about things like Ghazal bars with awesome Nepalese food, it takes you back many years in the traditional India, yet being across border makes it more exciting to the senses. The food, the music, the people meet your sensual yearnings more than you might have had travelling around the world! The place is magical, and that's why it gets me there all the time and so it does get many people who refuse to return to their home countries and stay back taking up some or other small business and extending their visas forever :)not to mention they are on regular hash! The cool weather, the fresh air, the beauty is more than breath taking, its like I wanna hang in here for some more time. The food is fresh from the grills or the 'tava' and contains the dominant garlic flavor, that I simply love!

Hindu dominant, its believed that Shiva dwells in the Himalayas and its strangely also the place for exceptional weed! I shouldn't be writing it here but hey its a know piece of information. Perhaps one of the popular reasons why people choose to come here in the first place! ;)

One of the historical places of Kathmandu, The Pashupatinath temple is just not a place of worship but actually a place where your wishes have a definite way of coming true. No this is not belief. This is my experience not once but twice. Now here is the big secret. The Shivlings outside the temple near the water body where most of the last rights of the dead is carried out called 'shrad' in Hindi, you will find two Shivlings, the one that is away from the water is the magical one. Try your wishes there after pouring a big pot of water on the Shivling and praying. Let me know how it goes. I have seen instant results. Really!

I love hanging around in Durbar marg, (the CBD of Kathmandu) and Thamel (official tourist shopping area) trying different food joints along with shopping. Things you find there are truly unique, you might even get a bargain in alcohol sale of some popular French and Australian wines. This is with particular reference to the cellar near The Cake Shop on Durbar Marg.

If you are someone who craves for good long massages, Nepal is the place! Out of all the many cities I have lived and traveled to around the world I can vouch that this service is the best here. Which ever is your choice; deep tissue, shiatsu, hot stone, reflexology, Thai or Swedish, you will enjoy it to the core!

So dear tourists and travelers don't forget to experience these suggestions or if you are not experimental then you may do the mundane tourist site seeing which is pretty much checking the box of your tourism checklist and nothing more! Rather feel Nepal and keep it in your memories than just in pictures :-) I would be adding on more information to this, keep watching...and read my related blog on Pokhara, Banaras and Bangkok below! Lots of Love and Luck!

    1. You are welcome Kini. One week good, two weeks better, three weeks even better, you could also cover Pokhara in Nepal during that period.
